1 Corinthians 6:9–11

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

It is obvious that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God, however it is important to note the fact the Paul used the words “Do not be deceived: neither…”, and he goes on with a list of behavior. Him using those words, along with the fact that he is writing this letter to a church, lead me to believe that he is calling out the behaviors (the list) of Christians within the church.

This entire letter was for the church of Corinth because of so man issues, problems, and sin that was in the church. However it is so applicable for the church today. It would be wise for us to read this letter, heed its convictions, and apply it to our lives.

Some of the convictions Paul wrote in this letter includes: 1. Fleeing from sexual immorality 2. Division within the church 3. Building a solid foundation on Christ 4. How dispute issues with in the church/among fellow believers.

Praise God for His son Jesus Christ! In the last part it declares that this is how we once were. Living in sin and darkness, giving into the flesh, BUT Jesus!!! Through our faith, hope, and trust in Jesus Christ we are washed, sanctified, and justified!!!
